American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Houston peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

As a bagel fan, I finally got the chance to try PopUp Bagels today. The menu is very simple, but there’s no option to buy just one bagel. We got 3 for $15, and each bagel felt about 60% the size of a regular bagel. The bagels come unsliced, so you have to cut them yourself with the provided wooden knife. It took a little effort, and with the Everything Bagel, the seasoning ended up everywhere while cutting. πŸ˜‚ We wanted smoked salmon, but the only option was pre-packaged salmon that you open and add to the bagel yourself. Basically, don’t expect any service here, everything is DIY, and very limited parking and seating either. That said, the bagel itself was good: fresh, chewy, and tasty. I’m glad we tried it and I think it’s worth experiencing once, but considering the price, size, limited options, and purely self-service setup, we probably won’t be coming back.

Delicious β€œbagels” with fresh shmear. We had everything, sesame, salt with scallion cream cheese. All the β€œbagels” are delicious, The salt bagel was especially delightful with a chewy exterior. Their cream cheese is the best I’ve had(ex-nyc native here) light yet scrumptious c has an almost whipped texture. All in all a delicious experience! My only gripe with it is that the texture is not bagel like but more bread like, delicious nonetheless. Also price is nyc price lol

PopUp Bagels finally made its way to Houston. The grand opening had the lines wrapped around the sidewalk. There is a designated parking lot that is also shared with other businesses. It’s more of a grab and go kind of place but they do have tables outside under the shade. I came here on the third day of the grand opening and only waited 20 minutes in line. The staff came out and took our orders then gave us a to-go bag with the orders marked on it. This made ordering a lot faster since you just have to pay once you get to the front counter. The bagels were put into the to-go bag and only took a minute before they called out your name. The bagels are sold in pack of 3, 6, or 12. The 12 pack gives you 2 schmear options. The 3 and 6 pack came with 1 schmear. They were out of their original schmears and only had the limited options left. I went with the caccio de pepe butter and 3 pack bagels - sesame, poppy, and everything bagel. The bagels were hot and fresh. A good crunchy texture on the outside and each bagel was fully coated with its topping. The butter schmear was creamy and had a very smooth texture. Hope I can come back to check out their original schmears flavor in the fut

I went here on their grand opening and they had a dj and it seemed organized in a chaotic way. It took about an hour to get the bagels and you can also order online. They have plain bagel flavors like: plain, sesame, everything bagel, and salted. They also have a bunch of different spreads and they rotate it every week. The ones that I tried today were the cacio e Pepe butter, plain, and scallions. I enjoyed the texture of their spreads. It was smooth and creamy. My favorite was the scallion one out of the three. The cacio e Pepe butter one was a bit too salty for me. The parking situation was one downside. I had to park across the street, and I can imagine that even after the initial hype dies down, parking will remain challenging since there doesn’t appear to be a designated parking area.

I love bagels and I’ve never had a fresh hot bagel before. I don’t think I could ever go back to store bought bagels again. These bagels were fresh, hot, chewy, fluffy! They are expensive in my opinion, but that won’t discourage me from buying them because they are so good! πŸ˜‹. The scallion cream cheese was fantastic! It was their grand opening and it is small inside. They had music blasting so loud the cashier and I couldn’t even hear eachother. He misspelled my name on the bag 3 times because he couldn’t hear well over the music and everyone shouting due to the music! Workers had their hair pulled back with a hat on, but there was also a worker making bagels that had a long, thick, black beard that was not wearing a beard cover.
